Footsteps Under Scrutiny: Chetan Taken To Lohagad For Gait Analysis In Pune Case

Chetan undergoes gait analysis in Pune case probe

In a key development in the ongoing investigation into the alleged murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal, police have taken accused Chetan Chaudhary to Lohagad Fort for crime scene reconstruction and gait analysis as part of efforts to piece together the sequence of events that led to the incident during a trekking trip last month.

According to the case details, both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary have been accused of killing Ketan Agarwal by allegedly pushing him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort. The incident is said to have taken place during a trek, with investigators treating the case as a premeditated act of violence. The accused, who were reportedly known to the victim, are being interrogated as part of an ongoing probe by Pune Police.

In earlier investigative steps, police had also taken Siya Goyal to the same location at Lohagad Fort to reconstruct the alleged sequence of events. On Wednesday, investigators brought Chetan Chaudhary to the crime scene as well, continuing the process of recreating the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder. The exercise is part of standard procedural requirements in serious cases involving disputed narratives and multiple accused persons.

As part of the forensic investigation, police are also conducting gait analysis, a technique used to study an individual’s walking pattern and body movements. The method is often employed in criminal investigations to compare suspect movement patterns with those captured on video footage or CCTV recordings, helping investigators establish presence, behaviour, or possible involvement at specific locations and times. Following the analysis, police are expected to proceed with completing formal crime scene reconstruction procedures.

Chetan Chaudhary’s legal counsel has, however, challenged the prosecution’s framing of the case. Speaking to ANI, the lawyer stated that no specific role has been attributed to his client beyond his mention in the victim’s statements and what he described as general suspicion of involvement. The defence has argued that allegations against Chaudhary are not supported by clear evidence establishing direct participation in the alleged act.

The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to gather forensic, circumstantial, and testimonial evidence to establish the chain of events. Authorities are expected to consolidate findings from the reconstruction exercise and gait analysis before moving forward with further procedural steps in the case, which continues to draw significant attention due to the nature of the allegations and the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime at Lohagad Fort.
