Ayodhya Ram Temple Marks Second Anniversary with Grand Rituals

Rituals commence in Ayodhya for second anniversary of Ram Temple consecration.

The celebrations for the second anniversary of the Ram Temple’s consecration began on Saturday with a series of elaborate rituals, marking a significant event for devotees and the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra (SRJTK) Trust. The main anniversary will be observed on December 31, with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh set to attend as the chief guest.

Saturday’s ceremonies were conducted under the guidance of SRJTK Trust member Swami Vishwaprasanna Teertha and attended by 15 Vedic scholars from Bengaluru Vidyapeeth. The rituals included a havan, establishment of a protective kavach, a palanquin procession of the deity, and mandal puja. Additional ceremonies included tatva havan, worship of a tatva kalash, Ganpati puja, and another havan, reflecting a blend of traditional Vedic practices.

Preparations for the main celebration, Pratishtha Dwadashi, on December 31, are underway. During the event, the Ram Lalla deity will be anointed with panch ras, and fifty-six dishes will be offered as bhog. Devotional bhajans will be sung, accompanied by a vibrant dhol festival. Plans are also underway to install a gem-studded idol to enhance the spiritual ambiance of the temple.

The original consecration of the Ram Lalla idol took place on January 22, 2024. Since then, Ayodhya has witnessed a steady increase in the number of devotees visiting the temple. Devotees using the general darshan route are currently able to have darshan within approximately half an hour, despite the growing crowds, according to temple authorities.

To manage the influx of visitors, the temple has implemented a pass system. A limited number of passes are issued daily, with 400 passes allotted per two-hour slot, which are currently fully booked until January 1. Aarti passes have also been fully booked, underscoring the popularity of the temple’s anniversary celebrations.

The SRJTK Trust continues to make arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the upcoming rituals, aiming to provide devotees a spiritually enriching and well-organized experience during the grand second anniversary festivities.
