The procession moved through 6th Avenue Beach Road before proceeding to 3rd Main Road. It then continued along 2nd Avenue and 7th Avenue before completing the route and returning to Annai Velankanni Church. The procession allowed devotees to participate in the Eucharistic celebration outside the church premises while maintaining the traditional character of the annual festival.
The opening of the festival is expected to be followed by a series of religious programmes and services at the church. Such annual observances provide devotees with opportunities to participate in prayers and other faith-based activities over the festival period. The presence of a large congregation on the opening day also demonstrated the importance attached to the celebrations by the local community and visitors.

With thousands participating in the opening celebrations, the church and its surrounding areas witnessed a strong religious gathering. Further programmes during the festival are expected to draw devotees to Besant Nagar as the annual observances continue.
