Amarnath Yatra To Commence July 3; Registrations Begin April 15

Amarnath Yatra to start July 3; registrations open April 15 for pilgrims.

The annual Amarnath Yatra is set to commence on July 3 this year, with registrations for pilgrims scheduled to open from April 15, authorities announced. The pilgrimage, which draws thousands of devotees each year, will follow its traditional routes under extensive security and logistical arrangements.

Organised by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, the yatra will take place via the twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal, leading to the holy Amarnath cave shrine. Officials said preparations are underway to ensure smooth movement of pilgrims, including infrastructure upgrades, medical facilities, and transportation support.

The registration process will be conducted through designated bank branches and online platforms, with mandatory health certification required for all participants. Authorities have emphasised adherence to guidelines, particularly in view of the high-altitude terrain and unpredictable weather conditions that pilgrims may encounter during the journey.

Security agencies are also coordinating closely to ensure a safe pilgrimage, given the region’s sensitivity. Multi-layered security arrangements, surveillance measures, and deployment of personnel along the routes are expected to be put in place ahead of the yatra’s commencement.

The Amarnath Yatra holds deep religious significance for Hindu devotees, who undertake the challenging trek to pay obeisance at the naturally formed ice lingam inside the cave shrine. With registrations opening soon, authorities expect a steady influx of applications as preparations gather pace for one of India’s most prominent annual pilgrimages.
