Coffee Lovers Rejoice: 14 Days of Daily Coffee Can Improve Health, Says Expert
Dr Sethi explains daily coffee benefits for liver, brain, digestion.
Dr Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at Harvard, Stanford, and AIIMS, has shared insights into what happens when coffee is consumed daily for two weeks. While coffee is often associated with negative effects such as insomnia, anxiety, jitters, increased heart rate, and digestive issues, Dr Sethi highlights several health benefits of moderate daily consumption.
In a recent Instagram video, Dr Sethi outlined four key advantages of drinking coffee consistently for about 14 days. He noted that regular coffee intake may help the liver, reducing the risk of fatty liver, fibrosis, and cirrhosis, thereby supporting overall liver health.
The expert also emphasized coffee’s impact on metabolism. “Coffee contains compounds like chlorogenic acids that can support insulin sensitivity,” Dr Sethi explained, which may improve overall metabolic function. Additionally, caffeine in coffee can enhance alertness, focus, and mental performance, providing a cognitive boost.

Coffee may also aid digestion, according to Dr Sethi. He stated that it can stimulate bowel movement and improve gut motility in many people, helping to maintain regular digestive health. However, he cautioned that individuals with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) should exercise care, and that one to three cups of black coffee per day is generally considered safe for most adults.
Dr Sethi also provided practical tips to maximize coffee’s health benefits. He advised avoiding excessive sugar or ultra-processed creamers and recommended natural sweeteners like honey, monk fruit, or stevia. He further warned against common mistakes, such as not choosing organic coffee, quitting coffee prematurely, or relying solely on lighter roasts.
Overall, Dr Sethi’s guidance suggests that when consumed mindfully, coffee can contribute to liver health, metabolism, brain function, and digestion, making it a beneficial addition to a balanced diet.
