Unlock Morning Energy: Eat These Fats On Empty Stomach

Nutritionist advises healthy fats in morning for energy, digestion, fullness.

Nutritionist Deepsikha Jain has highlighted the benefits of consuming healthy fats on an empty stomach, emphasizing that starting the day with the right type of fat can positively affect digestion, nutrient absorption, and energy levels. While many people prioritize proteins and carbohydrates for breakfast, incorporating certain fats can provide sustained fullness and support overall metabolic health.

In a recent Instagram post, Jain recommended several sources of healthy fats that can be consumed first thing in the morning. She explained that these fats not only aid digestion but also help regulate hormones and maintain blood sugar balance. “Start your day with either of these fats,” she advised, noting that timing and type of fat can make a difference in how the body processes nutrients.

One of the top recommendations is ghee, particularly when taken with warm water. Jain said ghee may enhance the production of butyric acid in the gut, which helps reduce inflammation and strengthen the gut barrier. However, she cautioned that ghee should be avoided by those with high cholesterol or gallbladder issues.

Nuts, such as Brazil nuts and walnuts, are another recommended option. Jain emphasized their high-quality unsaturated fats, which can balance hormones and prevent sugar spikes. Soaking the nuts beforehand can also improve their digestibility. Virgin coconut oil, rich in saturated fats, was suggested for boosting energy, supporting metabolism, and promoting thyroid health.

Unsalted butter is also noted for providing sustained energy and aiding nutrient absorption, though Jain advised moderation due to its saturated fat content. She recommended prioritizing unsaturated fats like those found in nuts to manage cholesterol levels effectively.

Incorporating these healthy fats into the morning routine, according to Jain, can enhance overall energy, support digestive health, and promote a balanced start to the day. She encourages mindful choices and moderation, ensuring that breakfast supports both immediate energy needs and long-term wellness.
