Rahul Gandhi Shares Fitness Lessons For Gen Z From His Routine At 56
Rahul Gandhi shares his fitness routine and advice for Gen Z.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has shared details of his fitness routine at 56, revealing that he combines martial arts, swimming, running and yoga while maintaining a busy schedule. He discussed his approach during an Instagram Ask Me Anything session, where he responded to questions from students and Gen Z followers about his personal life, interests and experiences.
Responding to a question about his fitness routine, Gandhi explained that there is no single exercise plan that determines whether a person remains fit. He stressed the importance of consistency and continuing physical activity over time. According to Gandhi, maintaining fitness is more about being persistent and allowing regular efforts to build up rather than following one specific routine.
Gandhi revealed that his own routine includes martial arts, swimming and running, while yoga has also recently become an important part of his fitness schedule. He said he tries to incorporate different aspects of physical fitness rather than focusing exclusively on one form of exercise. His routine includes activities aimed at building strength, aerobic capacity and flexibility.

Explaining how he manages exercise alongside his work commitments, Gandhi said he dedicates about an hour to different aspects of fitness. He described exercise as part of his work life rather than something reserved for his free time. He also indicated that he makes time for physical activity even when his schedule is demanding, including late at night if necessary.
Gandhi also offered advice to young people looking to improve their fitness. He stressed that exercise should be accompanied by broader lifestyle choices, including mindful eating and avoiding habits such as constant snacking. He also advised limiting alcohol consumption, arguing that fitness works best when physical activity and everyday lifestyle choices are considered together.
For Gandhi, the approach is therefore centred on consistency and making regular time for physical activity rather than following an overly complicated routine. His comments during the AMA session highlighted a combination of exercise, flexibility, strength-building and lifestyle choices as the broader approach he uses to maintain fitness.
