Palash Muchhal’s Mother Confident Wedding Will Happen Soon Despite Setbacks
Palash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana’s wedding was postponed; both families remain hopeful despite health emergencies.
The wedding of Music Composer Palash Muchhal and Cricketer Smriti Mandhana remains indefinitely postponed after a dramatic health scare struck both families on the day of the scheduled final rituals. Hours before the ceremony in Sangli, Smriti’s father suffered heart attack-like symptoms and was rushed to the hospital; the ensuing stress reportedly caused Palash to also fall ill, requiring admission first in Sangli and later transfer to Mumbai. Both have since been discharged, but no fresh date for the remaining wedding functions has been announced.
Palash’s mother, Amita Muchhal, broke her silence on Thursday, acknowledging the emotional toll on the couple while expressing firm hope that the marriage will take place soon. “Smriti and Palash dono takleef mein hain,” she told Hindustan Times, revealing that her son had been dreaming of bringing his bride home and that she had planned a special welcome for Smriti. “Everything will be fine; shaadi bohot jaldi hogi,” she added confidently, insisting the postponement is solely due to the medical emergencies and not any rift.
The sudden turn of events has sparked intense speculation on social media, amplified by Smriti quietly deleting all wedding-related posts from her Instagram account. Family members from both sides have repeatedly clarified that the delay is purely health-related, with no change in the couple’s commitment. Smriti’s father is now recovering at home, while Palash has also returned home after treatment.

Adding to the intrigue, Team India and Melbourne Renegades batter Jemimah Rodrigues abruptly withdrew from the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League in Australia to fly back and stand by her close friend Smriti during this difficult period. The gesture has touched fans but also fuelled further curiosity about the behind-the-scenes situation.
As the two families focus on recovery and privacy, Amita Muchhal’s optimistic words have offered the clearest indication yet that the high-profile union—widely celebrated when pictures of the pre-wedding functions surfaced last week—will go ahead once both sides are fully ready. For now, Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal remain engaged, with their wedding story paused but far from over.
