Is Your Body Warning You? 7 Signs You Should Never Ignore

Early body signals may indicate underlying health issues requiring attention.

Fitness coach Dan Go has highlighted a set of subtle but potentially important health warning signs that he says should not be ignored, warning that the body often signals underlying issues long before serious illness develops. In a recent Instagram post on June 27, he urged people to pay attention to persistent changes in energy levels, digestion, sleep, and recovery.

Go described many common experiences—such as ongoing fatigue, slow recovery after exercise, brain fog, and unexplained mood changes—as possible indicators of declining health rather than normal effects of stress or ageing. He emphasised that these signs are often dismissed or rationalised, even when they may point to underlying metabolic or lifestyle-related problems.

One of the key indicators he highlighted is waist-to-height ratio, which he described as a more reliable marker of metabolic health than traditional BMI measurements. According to him, a waist measurement exceeding half of a person’s height may suggest excess visceral fat accumulation, which can increase long-term health risks.

He also pointed to physical symptoms such as bleeding gums and the appearance of skin tags as possible warning signs. Bleeding gums, he noted, may indicate inflammation or poor oral health, while skin tags have been associated in some cases with insulin resistance and changes in blood sugar regulation, warranting further medical evaluation if they increase over time.

Other signs he mentioned include persistent foul-smelling gas, which may suggest gut health imbalance, and snoring or mouth breathing during sleep, which could indicate airway issues or sleep apnoea. He also warned that waking up tired despite adequate sleep may reflect poor sleep quality, blood sugar instability, or inflammation affecting brain function.

Finally, Go cautioned that becoming easily out of breath during routine activities such as climbing stairs or carrying groceries may signal reduced cardiovascular fitness. He encouraged individuals to view such symptoms collectively rather than in isolation, suggesting they may be early indicators of lifestyle-related health decline that should prompt timely attention and medical consultation when necessary.
