No Debt, No EMI: Kerala Return Beats Dubai Life, Says Viral Indian Woman
Woman cites timing and mental peace for Kerala return from Dubai.
An Indian woman’s decision to relocate her family from Dubai back to Kerala has sparked widespread discussion on social media, after she shared a detailed explanation of the move in a viral Instagram video. Leeba Subin said the decision was not impulsive but rooted in careful reflection, timing, and the pursuit of mental peace.
In the video, Subin explained that the move coincided with two major milestones — the renewal of the family’s UAE visa and their house rent agreement. The overlap prompted what she described as a necessary pause. “It was about timing, alignment, and mental peace,” she said, adding that the moment allowed the family to reassess their priorities calmly and practically, particularly as partners and parents.
One of the key factors influencing the decision was their child’s schooling. Subin noted that in Dubai, her child had to leave home at 6 a.m. and commute nearly 90 minutes daily. In contrast, their new home in Kerala is just 10 minutes away from an international school. The proximity, she said, significantly improved daily life and reduced stress for the family.

Financial considerations also played a role. Living in their own house in Kerala eliminated the pressure of paying rent in Dubai. Subin said the family is now in a “no-debt, no-EMI situation”, describing the resulting mental freedom as more valuable than they had initially realised. She also highlighted the benefit of reconnecting with community life and extended family.
The video has garnered over 162,000 views, with many users expressing support. Subin encouraged families facing similar decisions to prioritise open communication, noting that what worked for her family may not suit everyone. “Sometimes the decision is not about where life looks better, but where it feels better,” one commenter wrote, echoing the sentiment that resonated widely online.
