Bombay Sandwich And Korean Cream Cheese Buns Can Elevate Your Monsoon Evenings
Monsoon snack ideas including Bombay masala sandwich and Korean cream cheese buns.
With the monsoon season approaching, home kitchens are turning into spaces for warm, comforting snacks, and chef and content creator Tanya Verma from Delhi has shared two easy recipes that fit perfectly into rainy-day cravings. Her suggestions include the classic Bombay masala sandwich and the popular Korean cream cheese buns, both designed for quick preparation and maximum flavour at home. The recipes have been shared as simple step-by-step guides for home cooks looking to recreate café-style snacks.
The Bombay masala sandwich begins with a spiced potato filling made from boiled potatoes cooked with butter, turmeric, red chilli powder, and salt, finished with fresh coriander. A separate green chutney is prepared using mint, coriander, green chillies, garlic, lemon juice, and seasoning, blended into a thick spread. These two core components form the flavour base of the sandwich, which is assembled using white bread slices.
To build the sandwich, butter is first spread on the bread, followed by a layer of green chutney and the prepared potato mixture. Fresh vegetables such as tomato, beetroot, capsicum, and onion are then layered evenly, along with sandwich masala and cheese. The sandwich is closed, toasted until crisp and golden, and finished with a topping of butter, chutney, cheese, and sev for added crunch and flavour before serving hot with ketchup or extra chutney.

The second recipe, Korean cream cheese buns, focuses on a soft, bakery-style snack with a creamy and garlicky profile. The filling is made by mixing softened cream cheese, fresh cream, and sugar until smooth, while a separate garlic butter mixture is prepared using melted butter, chopped garlic, and coriander. These components create a rich combination that defines the dish’s signature taste.
For assembly, soft buns are sliced in a flower-like pattern without cutting all the way through, and the cream cheese mixture is piped into the gaps. The buns are then dipped into the garlic butter mixture, ensuring full coating before baking. They are baked at 180°C for 10 to 12 minutes until golden, resulting in a soft, aromatic snack ideal for cosy monsoon evenings.
