Air India To Operate 36 Extra Flights To London, Toronto, Frankfurt, Zurich
Air India adds 36 extra international flights to meet rising passenger demand.
Air India has announced plans to operate 36 additional flights to key European and North American destinations, including London, Toronto, Frankfurt, and Zurich, to meet surging passenger demand. This expansion comes amid ongoing regional disruptions in West Asia, which have limited travel options and prompted airlines to reroute and boost capacity on alternative paths. The extra services, connecting from major Indian hubs like Delhi and Mumbai, aim to provide more options for travelers seeking connections to Europe, Canada, and beyond.
The additional flights build on Air India's earlier announcements in early March 2026, when it deployed extra capacity to Toronto, Frankfurt, and Paris due to high demand triggered by Middle East tensions. From March 4 to 11, three extra Delhi-Toronto flights were added, alongside three Delhi-Frankfurt and one Delhi-Paris service between March 7 and 10. These moves offered convenient onward connections across India and Southeast Asia.

Further enhancing connectivity, Air India revealed on March 10 that it would operate 78 extra flights through March 18, covering nine routes with over 17,600 seats. Key destinations included London (Heathrow), Frankfurt, Zurich, Paris, Amsterdam, New York (JFK), Malé, and Colombo, with services originating from both Delhi and Mumbai to accommodate the rush.
While specific breakdowns for the 36 flights to London, Toronto, Frankfurt, and Zurich were not detailed in the latest updates, they align with Air India's strategy to strengthen long-haul international operations. The carrier has been upgrading its fleet, including deploying new Boeing 787-9 aircraft on routes like Delhi-Toronto, introducing premium economy cabins for enhanced passenger experience.
This initiative underscores Air India's response to geopolitical challenges affecting West Asian airspace, prioritizing traveler support during peak demand periods. As of mid-March 2026, operations continue to evolve, with passengers encouraged to check the airline's website for real-time schedules and bookings.
