US Markets Gain On Ceasefire Hopes, Nasdaq Records Longest Streak Since 2017

US stocks gain as Nasdaq records longest winning streak since 2017

U.S. stock markets advanced on Thursday as optimism around easing Middle East tensions and a steady flow of corporate earnings boosted investor sentiment. The rally pushed major indices higher, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite logging its longest winning streak in years.

The Nasdaq rose for a 12th consecutive session, marking its longest run since 2009, while the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average also posted modest gains. The sustained upward momentum has been driven by hopes of de-escalation in geopolitical tensions, particularly following a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon.

Investor confidence has been further supported by signs of potential diplomatic progress involving the United States and Iran. Markets have reacted positively to expectations that reduced conflict risk could stabilize global energy markets and ease inflationary pressures, key concerns for investors in recent weeks.

Corporate earnings have also played a significant role in driving the rally. Companies such as PepsiCo reported stronger-than-expected results, lifting sentiment, although some firms like Abbott Laboratories and Charles Schwab faced pressure due to weaker outlooks. The mixed earnings picture has not been enough to derail the broader upward trend.

Sectoral performance showed gains across most areas, with energy stocks leading the advance, while healthcare lagged. Technology shares continued to underpin the Nasdaq’s strength, reflecting sustained investor interest in growth-oriented sectors despite global uncertainties.

Analysts, however, caution that the rally remains sensitive to geopolitical developments and earnings outcomes. While the current momentum reflects improving sentiment, sustained gains will likely depend on continued progress in diplomatic efforts and stronger corporate performance in the coming weeks.
