Sensex, Nifty Open Higher For Fifth Straight Session on Tuesday
Sensex, Nifty open higher, extending gains into a fifth session.
Indian equity benchmark indices opened marginally higher on Tuesday, extending their gains for a fifth consecutive trading session. The 30-share BSE Sensex opened around 100 points higher, while the broader NSE Nifty 50 gained 26 points in early trade, reflecting a cautious but positive start for domestic markets after four straight sessions of gains.
The muted opening came as investors assessed movements in global markets, crude oil prices and broader demand prospects. Oil prices edged higher on Tuesday, although gains remained limited as traders shifted their attention from easing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East towards potential supply increases and the outlook for global demand. Brent crude futures rose 28 cents, or 0.39 per cent, to $72.29 a barrel.
Domestic benchmark indices had ended firmly higher on Monday, supported by buying in blue-chip banking stocks and lower crude oil prices. The Sensex jumped 521.16 points, or 0.67 per cent, to close at 78,285.07. During the session, the index climbed as much as 634.15 points, or 0.81 per cent, to reach an intraday level of 78,398.06.

The NSE Nifty 50 also recorded strong gains in the previous session, rising 159.50 points, or 0.66 per cent, to settle at 24,430.35. The advance extended the market’s winning streak to four consecutive sessions. Banking stocks were among the key contributors to Monday’s gains, while softer crude oil prices provided additional support to investor sentiment.
Over the previous four trading sessions, the Sensex had gained 1,806.4 points, or 2.36 per cent, while the Nifty advanced 564.6 points, also representing a rise of 2.36 per cent. The sustained rally reflected renewed buying across key segments of the market, with investors continuing to monitor global developments and commodity price movements for further direction.
On Friday, the Sensex had risen 261.79 points, or 0.34 per cent, to close at 77,763.91, while the Nifty gained 95.15 points, or 0.39 per cent, to settle at 24,270.85. With both indices opening in positive territory again on Tuesday, investors will closely watch whether the benchmarks can maintain their gains and extend the winning streak through the session.
