PM Modi To Transfer ₹18,640 Crore PM-KISAN Funds To Farmers

PM Modi to release ₹18,640 crore PM-KISAN instalment for over 9.32 crore farmers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release ₹18,640 crore under the 22nd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi on March 13, benefiting about 9.32 crore farmers across India. The funds will be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts during an event in Guwahati, located in the poll-bound state of Assam.

The PM-KISAN scheme provides financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually to eligible farmer households, distributed in three equal instalments through the Direct Benefit Transfer system. With the release of the latest instalment, the government aims to provide timely financial support to farmers for agricultural inputs and other household needs.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the new instalment reflects the government’s continued commitment to improving farmers’ welfare. He noted that the upcoming transfer will push the total amount disbursed under the programme beyond ₹4.27 lakh crore.

According to the minister, since the scheme was launched in 2019, more than ₹4.09 lakh crore has already been credited directly to the bank accounts of eligible farmer families. He added that the initiative has played a key role in strengthening rural incomes and supporting agricultural activities across the country.

Chouhan also highlighted that more than 2.15 crore women farmers will receive financial assistance under the 22nd instalment. The financial support, he said, helps farmers purchase essential agricultural inputs and contributes to strengthening the economic condition of rural households while promoting women’s empowerment in villages.

The minister urged farmers to ensure that their details on the PM-KISAN portal are updated to avoid delays in receiving payments. He also appealed to farmers, particularly in Assam and other states, to verify their beneficiary status and complete their e-KYC process at the earliest to ensure smooth transfer of benefits.
