Adani Power Q1 Profit Rises 42%; Board Approves ₹15,000 Crore Qualified Institutional Placement
Q1 earnings strengthen expansion and fundraising strategy.
Adani Power Ltd. reported a strong financial performance for the first quarter of the current financial year, posting a 42 percent year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit while announcing major fundraising and financing plans to support its future growth strategy. Alongside its quarterly earnings, the company's board approved a proposal to raise up to Rs 15,000 crore through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) and other permitted fundraising instruments. It also approved an increase in the company's borrowing limit from Rs 75,000 crore to Rs 1 lakh crore, signalling its intention to strengthen financial resources for expansion.
For the quarter ended June, Adani Power reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 4,806 crore, compared with Rs 3,385 crore in the same period last year. The company's consolidated revenue rose 34 percent year-on-year to Rs 18,902 crore, reflecting continued growth in its power generation business. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) climbed nearly 40 percent to Rs 7,948 crore, while the EBITDA margin improved to 42 percent, up from 40.3 percent in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year, indicating stronger operational efficiency.
The board's approval to raise up to Rs 15,000 crore through a QIP and other eligible fundraising mechanisms is expected to provide the company with greater financial flexibility as it pursues capacity expansion and capital expenditure plans. In addition, the decision to increase the borrowing limit to Rs 1 lakh crore is intended to support long-term investments and strengthen the company's funding capability for upcoming projects. These measures are expected to enhance Adani Power's ability to finance large-scale infrastructure and energy initiatives.

The latest financial results underscore Adani Power's continued focus on expanding its generation capacity while maintaining profitability and improving operating performance. The company's stronger margins suggest efficient cost management despite the capital-intensive nature of the power sector. The proposed fundraising and enhanced borrowing capacity are also viewed as strategic steps to ensure adequate liquidity for future investments, particularly as demand for electricity continues to rise across India and the country accelerates its energy infrastructure development.
The robust quarterly earnings and capital-raising announcements are likely to keep Adani Power shares in focus as investors evaluate the company's growth prospects and funding strategy. Market participants will closely monitor how the additional capital is deployed, as well as the company's progress on expansion projects in the coming quarters.
