The One Financial Habit Experts Say AI Can’t Replace for Building True Wealth

Bengaluru expert Basavaraj Tonagatti says money habits matter more than AI.

In an era where artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT and Gemini are increasingly used to assist with personal finance decisions, Bengaluru-based influencer and financial expert Basavaraj Tonagatti offers a grounded perspective on wealth creation. Tonagatti, Founder and CEO of Basu Nivesh, highlights that the key obstacle in money management is not a shortage of information or advanced technology, but rather human behavior.

Tonagatti points out that while AI tools offer valuable insights and data analysis, they cannot replace the role of consistent discipline and emotional control when handling money. “Even the best models can’t predict how we react to fear, greed, or impatience when money is involved,” he noted, underscoring that technology alone is insufficient to overcome the psychological challenges faced by investors.

According to Tonagatti, AI can support financial planning by analyzing spending patterns and offering guidance, but it cannot prevent impulsive decisions such as overspending or abandoning long-term goals during market uncertainty. He argues that simple financial routines — including budgeting, maintaining an emergency fund, securing proper insurance, and engaging in long-term planning — are effective precisely because they help manage the emotional aspects of money management.

The influencer stresses that building wealth is less about finding the perfect algorithm or chasing complex tools and more about cultivating a repetitive and consistent routine. “It’s your habits, not machines or experts, that build lasting wealth,” Tonagatti said, emphasizing the power of sustained discipline over time.

His advice serves as a reminder that even amid rapid technological advancement, fundamental personal finance principles remain invaluable. For investors and everyday individuals alike, committing to steady, straightforward financial habits can deliver long-term growth and security beyond what any AI can currently provide.
