Telangana Man Buys Rs 1.10 Lakh Bike Paying Entirely in Rs 10 Coins

Telangana family's nine-year coin savings help them buy a motorcycle.

A man fulfilled his family’s nine-year dream of owning a motorcycle by purchasing a bike worth Rs 1.10 lakh entirely with Rs 10 coins. Konde Raghupathi, a resident of Veliminedu village in Chityala mandal, arrived at Sri Vinayaka Motors with bags filled with coins to buy a Hero Splendor Plus. The unusual payment surprised showroom employees and attracted curious locals, turning the purchase into a widely discussed event.

Raghupathi, his wife and their two children began collecting Rs 10 coins in 2017 with the goal of eventually buying a vehicle for the family. Over the next nine years, they patiently continued adding to their savings until the total was enough to purchase the motorcycle. Despite recurring rumours and confusion over the validity of Rs 10 coins, the family continued saving them and remained determined to achieve their long-term goal.

The motorcycle showroom witnessed an unusual scene when the bags of accumulated coins were brought inside and opened for counting. Large quantities of Rs 10 coins were spread out as employees began the lengthy process of sorting and verifying the payment. The sight attracted a crowd of curious residents, while videos and photographs of the unusual transaction later gained attention on social media.

Five showroom employees reportedly spent nearly four hours counting the coins before confirming that the total payment amounted to Rs 1.10 lakh. Once the counting and verification process was completed, the sale was finalised and the motorcycle was handed over to Raghupathi. The family’s long-awaited purchase marked the end of nearly a decade of disciplined saving and turned an ordinary vehicle delivery into a memorable occasion.

Showroom owner Uppu Madhu said Raghupathi had informed him in advance that he planned to make the entire payment using coins. Although employees were initially concerned about the amount of time required to count such a large quantity, the showroom agreed to accept the payment after seeing his determination. The staff then arranged the manpower needed to count and verify the coins before completing the transaction.

The incident has drawn widespread attention both locally and online, with many people praising the family’s patience, thrift and persistence. Their decision to save small-denomination coins consistently for nine years eventually helped them achieve their goal of owning a motorcycle. The unusual purchase also highlighted that Rs 10 coins remain legal tender, while the family’s story has been widely shared as an example of how long-term and disciplined saving can turn a modest daily habit into a major purchase.
