Delhi Weather Today: Clouds Return, But Heat Persists Above Normal
Delhi to see cloudy skies this week with temperatures staying above normal.
Delhi is expected to witness partly cloudy skies on Tuesday, but residents are unlikely to get significant relief from the prevailing heat as temperatures are forecast to remain above the seasonal average. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the national capital is likely to record a maximum temperature between 37°C and 39°C and a minimum temperature between 26°C and 28°C. The weather department has not issued any warning for the city and expects no major change in weather conditions over the coming week.
The IMD has forecast predominantly dry weather during the daytime on Tuesday, with humid conditions expected to make outdoor temperatures feel warmer. However, isolated light rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, may occur during the night in some parts of the city. While these brief weather events could provide temporary relief, they are not expected to bring a significant drop in overall temperatures.
According to the latest forecast, Delhi will continue to experience partly cloudy skies from Wednesday through Sunday. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain in the range of 37°C to 39°C throughout the period, while minimum temperatures are likely to fluctuate between 26°C and 30°C. The IMD has indicated that there is little likelihood of any substantial deviation from these conditions over the next seven days.

Despite the ongoing southwest monsoon season, daytime temperatures in the capital have remained higher than normal in recent days. Weather experts attribute the persistent heat to limited widespread rainfall and prolonged periods of sunshine, which have prevented temperatures from falling to typical monsoon levels. The resulting combination of heat and humidity has continued to create uncomfortable conditions for residents across the city.
The absence of any weather warning suggests that no severe rainfall or extreme weather activity is expected immediately. Nevertheless, isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds during the evening or night remain possible due to localised atmospheric conditions. Such short-lived spells may affect traffic movement in some areas but are not forecast to develop into widespread rain events.
Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious during the hottest part of the day by staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and taking necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses. Commuters are also encouraged to monitor local weather updates, particularly during the evening hours, when isolated thunderstorms and light showers may briefly affect parts of the national capital.
