Gold, Silver Prices Today In Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata And Bangalore On May 18
Gold and silver prices show mixed movement across major Indian cities on May 18.
Gold and silver prices in India declined on Monday amid global market pressure driven by inflation concerns, rising crude oil prices, and a stronger US dollar. The correction in bullion rates came as investors reacted to ongoing geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions linked to US-Iran developments, analysts said.
On the domestic front, gold was priced at around Rs 1,59,120 per 10 grams, while silver stood at approximately Rs 2,71,760 per kilogram, according to bullion market data. The dip reflects a broader weakening trend in precious metals as global macroeconomic conditions continue to influence investor sentiment.
In major Indian cities, 24-carat gold in Mumbai was trading at around Rs 1,58,830 per 10 grams, while Kolkata recorded a slightly lower rate of Rs 1,58,620. Delhi reported comparatively higher rates at about Rs 2,71,700 per 10 grams, though city-wise variations largely mirrored national trends.

Southern metropolitan markets continued to record relatively higher prices. Chennai led among major cities with gold priced at around Rs 1,59,290 per 10 grams, followed closely by Hyderabad at Rs 1,59,080 and Bengaluru at Rs 1,58,960. The price gap between southern hubs and northern markets remained consistent.
Silver prices also saw movement across key cities, with Mumbai recording around Rs 2,71,270 per kilogram and Delhi at Rs 2,70,800. Chennai and Hyderabad reported slightly higher levels, while Kolkata remained marginally lower. Bengaluru also tracked close to the national average.
Analysts noted that gold’s decline was influenced by a stronger dollar index and expectations of tighter global financial conditions. Market participants are closely watching energy price trends and geopolitical developments, which are expected to continue shaping bullion movement in the near term.
