Actor Adarsh Gourav, best known for The White Tiger, is set to make his Telugu film debut in an upcoming psychological thriller. The untitled project, slated for a 2025 release, will be directed by Baba Shashank and headlined by Jahnavi, daughter of RRR producer D.V.V. Danayya.
Expressing his excitement, Gourav (30) said, "The South film industry has consistently delivered some of the most compelling and innovative films, and I’m thrilled to finally be a part of it. This project is unlike anything I’ve done before—psychological horror with a gripping story that immediately drew me in. Collaborating with a visionary team and making my Telugu debut with Jahnavi’s production is truly special. I can’t wait for audiences to see what we’re creating."
The film is set to start production soon and it is reported that Jahnavi, who is foraying into direction with the as yet-untitled film, will launch new faces alongside Adarsh. A month-long schedule begins in Hyderabad next week.
Gourav, who began his career with My Name Is Khan (2010), rose to international fame as Balram Halwai in The White Tiger, a role that earned him a BAFTA nomination. His other notable works include Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, Guns & Gulaabs, and Hostel Daze.
His latest project, Superboys of Malegaon, is a coming-of-age film directed by Reema Kagti and written by Varun Grover. Inspired by the 2008 documentary Supermen of Malegaon, the film follows the story of Nasir Shaikh and other amateur filmmakers from the small town of Malegaon. The film also stars Vineet Kumar Singh, Shashank Arora, and Anuj Singh Duhan.
With his Telugu debut, Gourav continues to expand his repertoire, embracing diverse narratives across industries – English offerings like The White Tiger (2021) and Extrapolations (2022) find a place in the actor’s filmography alongside Hindi movies.
