Shriya Saran Alerts Fans About Imposter Using Her Picture and Phone Number

Shriya Saran on Wednesday lashed out at a fraudster who has been impersonating her on WhatsApp and messaging industry colleagues, directors, and people she admires. The Drishyam 2 actor posted a screenshot of the fake account’s profile picture (her own photo) and the mobile number being used, warning fans and friends that the person is not her.

“Whoever this idiot is… Please stop writing to people and wasting time! Unfortunately this is weird. I feel bad for wasting people’s time,” Shriya wrote on Instagram Stories. She added on a sarcastic note, “On a lighter note, the only good thing is this crappy person is reaching out to people I admire and would love to work with! Very strange! Why would you waste your time to do this? Go get a life, not someone’s impersonator.”

The Baahubali and RRR star urged everyone to stay vigilant, clarifying that the number circulating is in no way connected to her and that she does not contact people for work or personal reasons through random numbers.

Impersonation scams targeting celebrities have become increasingly common, with fraudsters using stolen photos and fake profiles to dupe fans for money or extract favours from industry insiders. Earlier this year, actors like Rashmika Mandanna, Naga Chaitanya, and Mrunal Thakur issued similar public warnings after fake accounts in their names began approaching producers and fans.

Shriya is currently filming the pan-India fantasy drama Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 alongside Vikram and is also attached to the legal thriller Identity with Tovino Thomas.
