Shah Rukh Khan And Akshay Kumar Told Honey Singh Drug Abuse Could End Career
Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar warned Honey Singh over drug abuse
Singer-rapper Honey Singh has spoken candidly about his struggle with drug abuse, mental health issues, and the dark phase he experienced at the height of his early fame, revealing that Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar had repeatedly warned him that his lifestyle could ultimately destroy him. In an appearance on the ABtalks podcast released on May 26, Honey Singh reflected on his rapid rise in the Indian music industry during the early 2010s, describing it as a period of immense success but deep personal turmoil.
He said that despite fame, wealth, and popularity, he felt emotionally broken and disconnected from reality. Recalling his mindset during his peak years between 2011 and 2014, the rapper admitted that substance abuse and arrogance significantly affected his behaviour. He said the combination of fame and drugs led him into a state where his perception of himself and others changed drastically.
At that time, he acknowledged that he behaved arrogantly and even considered himself invincible. Honey Singh further said that he does not blame the entertainment industry for his downfall, emphasizing that he alone was responsible for his actions and choices. He described that phase of his life as one clouded by poor judgment and emotional instability, which eventually forced him to step away from the public eye.

The singer also shared that several leading Bollywood figures, including Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, and Salman Khan, had noticed his deteriorating condition during that period. According to him, these actors often advised him to avoid substance abuse and warned him about the consequences of his lifestyle. He specifically recalled repeated warnings from Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar, saying they told him that his habits would eventually “spoil, finish, and destroy” him if he did not change course.
Honey Singh said those words stayed with him, even though he was not in a position to fully understand or act on them at the time. The rapper revealed that his struggles eventually led to a long hiatus from the music industry as he battled mental health challenges and addiction. After several years away from the spotlight, he made a comeback with new music projects, including his 2024 album Glory, marking a gradual return to mainstream performance and production.
