Rhea recalls her teenage VJ earnings and spending.

Actor Rhea Chakraborty has opened up about her early days in the entertainment industry, revealing that she earned around ₹3 lakh per month as an MTV video jockey when she was just 17 or 18 years old. In a recent conversation with comedian and content creator Tanmay Bhat on his YouTube channel, Rhea reflected on her teenage years as a VJ, her first experiences with celebrities and how she used the money she earned at the time. She said her early career gave her financial independence at a remarkably young age, even before she moved into acting.

Rhea began her career as a video jockey and became familiar with the entertainment industry through her work interviewing celebrities. During the conversation, she recalled that she was already earning what she described as a substantial amount for her age while working at MTV. She said her monthly income as a VJ had reached around ₹3 lakh by the time she was 17 or 18. The revelation offers a glimpse into how quickly she established herself professionally as a teenager and began earning independently in an industry where she would later build a career as an actor.

The actor also spoke about the way she spent the money she earned during those early years. Rhea said she used a significant part of her income on what she described as “fixing” her face. Her comments shed light on the pressures surrounding appearance in the entertainment industry, particularly for young performers who enter the public eye at an early age. Rhea's recollection suggests that even as a teenager, she was conscious of how she looked and was willing to spend her earnings on changes she felt would improve her appearance.

Rhea also revealed that Salman Khan was the first celebrity she ever met during her time as a VJ. She was around 17 or 18 when she began interviewing and interacting with prominent names from the entertainment industry. Meeting established celebrities at such an early stage gave her an early introduction to the world of film and television. Her work as an MTV VJ eventually helped her gain visibility before she moved into acting and began pursuing opportunities in Bollywood and other areas of entertainment.

Her career subsequently expanded beyond television, with Rhea taking on acting projects and becoming a more familiar face in the Hindi entertainment industry. She later launched her clothing brand, Chapter 2, in 2024, marking another step in her professional journey. Her career has therefore evolved across several fields, from television and film to entrepreneurship. Looking back at her early years, her comments to Bhat provide an insight into the financial opportunities and personal decisions that accompanied her entry into showbiz as a teenager.

Her recollections also highlight how her career began well before she became known primarily as an actor. From working as an MTV VJ and interviewing celebrities such as Salman Khan to entering films and later launching her own brand, Rhea has taken several professional turns.
