Tu Mera Lover! Ravi Teja and Sreeleela's Dance Song is Catchy - For Many Reasons
But it is not for the reason that you may reasonably imagine
A rambunctious catchy masala number involving top Telugu star Ravi Teja and that dancing sensation Sreeleela is always going to get strong reaction from the fans.
So little wonder, the song Tu Mera Lover from the Telugu film Mass Jathara, featuring Ravi Teja and Sreeleela has sparked animated discussions on the interwebs.
But there is some controversy attached to it. It has triggered the usual debate on the use of Artificial Intelligence in creative aspects like music. The song, for the record, uses AI-generated vocals mimicking the late music director Chakri.

Of course, it has been resorted to for the usual reasons of nostalgia and paying respects to one of the biggest names in Telugu film music industry. As per reports, the song was made with Bheems singing the track and then transforming it into Chakri's voice using AI tools. The lyrical video showcases Ravi Teja and Sreeleela in high-energy dance sequences.
AI-generated music is not new to South Indian cinema. Malaysia Vasudevan's digitally recreated voice was used in Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan and music director Yuvan Shankar Raja employed AI to feature his late sister Bhavatharini's voice in Goat. The trend is gaining traction, with filmmakers and composers exploring AI's potential to revive iconic voices.
While it doubtless triggers nostalgia, there are sections that believe such use of AI overrides ethical issues. The impact on originality and the rights of deceased artists are aspects that need to be looked into. The lack of clear regulations governing AI-generated content adds to the controversy. The integration of AI also raises questions about intellectual property rights and the ownership of AI-generated works.
There is also the fear that AI's ability to produce music at lower costs could disrupt traditional revenue streams for artists and composers.
