Ram Charan’s 'Peddi' Earns ₹16.25 Crore Net in India on Opening Day
Ram Charan sports drama opens strong with ₹16.25 crore India net.
Ram Charan’s latest sports drama Peddi opened to a strong response at the Indian box office on its first day of release, registering impressive earnings across multiple regions. According to early estimates, the film collected around ₹16.25 crore net in India on Day 1, with a gross collection of approximately ₹19.18 crore. The figures indicate a solid start for the film, driven largely by strong regional turnout and high audience anticipation ahead of its release.
The film is being screened across 5,695 shows nationwide and has recorded an overall occupancy of about 41.4 percent. The Telugu version has emerged as the primary driver of collections, contributing ₹15.43 crore net with an occupancy rate of around 60 percent across 3,463 shows. Other language versions, including Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, have contributed comparatively smaller shares to the overall total, reflecting the film’s strongest appeal in its core Telugu-speaking market.
Region-wise performance shows particularly strong traction in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where Peddi has performed exceptionally well. Cities such as Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Vijayawada, Guntur, Warangal, and Mahbubnagar recorded high occupancy levels, with several centres crossing the 75–90 percent mark. Hyderabad, the film’s largest market in terms of screenings, also reported healthy turnout, with an overall occupancy of 67 percent across more than 1,100 shows.

Outside the Telugu belt, the film’s performance was comparatively moderate. Cities like Chennai and Bengaluru recorded lower occupancy levels, while Mumbai saw mixed results depending on language versions. In northern and western regions, including Surat, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata, Hindi screenings registered relatively weak occupancy, indicating limited reach beyond the core audience base. However, premium formats in Hyderabad, including HDR and EPIQ screenings, witnessed near-full capacity, suggesting strong interest in high-end viewing experiences.
Ahead of its release, Peddi had already generated significant buzz, driven by strong advance bookings. Reports indicate the film crossed ₹35 crore in worldwide advance sales, including over 3.85 lakh tickets sold in India alone. Advance gross collections were estimated at nearly ₹15.4 crore, bolstered by block bookings and early fan demand. The strong pre-release momentum played a key role in its opening-day performance.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi is set in rural Andhra Pradesh during the 1980s and follows the journey of a spirited villager who unites his community through sports to protect their identity against a powerful rival. Starring Ram alongside Janhvi Kapoor, Divyendu Sharma, Jagapathi Babu, and Shivarajkumar, the film is positioned for a potentially strong opening weekend if current audience trends continue.
