Ram Charan Says Box Office Performance Drives Opportunities In Film Industry
Ram Charan discusses importance of box office success in cinema.
Actor Ram Charan has said that box office performance remains an important factor in shaping an actor’s career opportunities, particularly when it comes to securing the freedom to experiment with future projects. Speaking about the commercial realities of the film industry ahead of the release of Peddi, the actor noted that strong theatrical collections often influence the scale and flexibility available for upcoming films.
During an interaction with ANI, Ram Charan said that while commercial success is not the sole measure of achievement for an actor, it plays a major role in determining the type of projects filmmakers and producers are willing to support. According to him, successful box office numbers create room for actors to take creative risks and explore different storytelling approaches in subsequent films.
Ram Charan is currently preparing for the release of Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The film also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Boman Irani and Divyenndu in key roles. Anticipation surrounding the project has grown following the release of promotional material, including songs such as Chikiri Chikiri and Hellallallo, which have generated strong engagement online.

The actor was previously seen in Game Changer, directed by Shankar and co-starring Kiara Advani. Despite considerable pre-release expectations and promotional buzz, the film reportedly underperformed at the box office, resulting in financial losses for its producers and renewed industry discussion about the pressures of commercial performance in large-scale cinema.
Another major point of interest surrounding Peddi is the first-time on-screen pairing of Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. Fans have drawn comparisons with the iconic collaborations between their parents — Chiranjeevi and Sridevi — who starred together in several popular films including Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari. The nostalgic connection has added another layer of attention to the project.
Janhvi Kapoor also spoke about her excitement regarding the collaboration, describing Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari as one of the most iconic films associated with the earlier generation pairing. She said working alongside Ram Charan carried emotional significance because of the legacy attached to their families’ cinematic history. Peddi is scheduled for theatrical release on June 4, 2026.
