Rajkummar Rao Stuns Paparazzi With Sweets After Welcoming Baby Girl

Rajkummar Rao celebrates becoming a father by joyfully sharing sweets with paparazzi at a Mumbai event.

Actor Rajkummar Rao brought infectious joy to the red carpet of the We The Women Summit in Mumbai on Sunday as he personally distributed boxes of sweets to paparazzi, celebrating the arrival of his first child - a baby girl born to him and wife Patralekhaa on November 15. Dressed casually in a white T-shirt, black jacket and sunglasses, the usually media-shy star was all smiles while handing out the traditional mithai, turning a routine media interaction into a heartfelt moment of gratitude.

Videos of the gesture quickly went viral, with Rao seen warmly greeting photographers, accepting their congratulations and even posing patiently as cameras clicked away. When asked if the couple had finalized a name for their daughter, the 41-year-old replied with a laugh, “Abhi nahi (not yet).” The simplicity and warmth of the exchange stood in stark contrast to the often guarded celebrity-paparazzi dynamic in Bollywood.

Fans flooded social media with appreciation, calling the moment “the perfect real-life Badhaai Ho”—a reference to the 2018 film in which Rao himself played a son embarrassed by his parents’ late pregnancy. Comments ranged from “Laxmi ji aayi hai” and “True gentleman” to “This is how you share happiness,” with many praising Rao’s humility despite his critically acclaimed career spanning films like Shahid, Trapped, and Stree 2.

Rajkummar and Patralekhaa, who tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Chandigarh in November 2021 after a decade-long relationship, had announced the birth of their daughter on November 16 with a joint Instagram post featuring a glimpse of the newborn’s tiny feet. The couple has requested privacy while expressing gratitude for the overwhelming love pouring in from fans and colleagues alike.

The sweet-distribution gesture has been widely hailed as a refreshing reminder of grounded stardom in an industry often criticized for distance from the media. As one fan summed it up, “In an era of PR-managed announcements, Rajkummar just walked out with mithai and a smile—pure class.”

The actor is currently basking in the success of his recent releases and will next be seen in the Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video sequel and other projects, but for now, his biggest role—that of a new father—is clearly the one bringing him the brightest spotlight.
