Rajinikanth Dismisses "Stooping to Such Politics"; Denies Anti-Vijay Alliance Involvement Categorically
Rajinikanth denies involvement in DMK-AIADMK alliance against Vijay's TVK.
Superstar Rajinikanth on Sunday strongly denied reports linking him to alleged behind-the-scenes political discussions involving the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam following the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly election results. The actor clarified that he had no role in any purported efforts aimed at preventing newly elected Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay from forming the government. Rajinikanth said speculation about his involvement had deeply hurt him and insisted that he would never engage in what he described as “such politics.”
The clarification comes days after Rajinikanth visited former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M. K. Stalin following the party’s defeat in the Assembly elections. The meeting had fueled political speculation that the actor may have informally participated in discussions regarding a possible post-election arrangement after the fractured verdict left no single party with a clear majority. However, Rajinikanth dismissed the rumors and stated that his visit to Stalin was purely personal and motivated by concern over the electoral outcome.
Speaking publicly on the issue for the first time, Rajinikanth said he was deeply pained by narratives suggesting that he had attempted to influence political developments behind the scenes. He emphasized that he had always maintained a distance from opportunistic political maneuvering and did not support attempts to undermine democratic mandates. The actor added that the speculation had affected him personally because it misrepresented both his intentions and his longstanding public image.

At the same time, Rajinikanth acknowledged that the defeat of Stalin and the DMK in the election had been emotionally upsetting for him. Political observers noted that the actor has maintained cordial relationships with leaders across party lines in Tamil Nadu over the years, including Stalin. His remarks are likely to draw significant attention because of his continuing influence in the state’s political and entertainment landscape despite repeatedly stepping away from active electoral politics.
The recent Tamil Nadu election produced a dramatic political shift, with Vijay’s party emerging as a decisive force and eventually forming the government. The result altered the state’s traditional political equations dominated for decades by the DMK and AIADMK. Following the verdict, reports of possible political realignments and coalition discussions began circulating widely, particularly after meetings between prominent public figures and political leaders attracted media scrutiny.
Rajinikanth’s statement is being viewed as an attempt to firmly distance himself from ongoing political speculation and preserve his neutral public stance. Analysts believe the clarification could help cool rumors surrounding alleged post-election negotiations while reinforcing the actor’s position that he does not wish to be seen as participating in covert political strategies. The remarks have already generated widespread discussion across political circles and social media platforms in Tamil Nadu, where both cinema and politics remain closely intertwined.
