Director targets quicker production as sequel filming resumes soon.

Director Nag Ashwin has confirmed that work on the sequel to the blockbuster science-fiction epic Kalki 2898 AD is progressing steadily, with filming set to resume next month. The update has generated excitement among fans who have been eagerly awaiting the continuation of the story following the success of the first instalment.

Speaking about the project's status, Nag Ashwin revealed that preparations are underway for the next phase of production. According to reports, the filmmaker said that shooting for Kalki 2 would continue from next month and proceed at a rapid pace. The announcement marks one of the most significant updates on the highly anticipated sequel since the release of the original film.

The sequel is expected to reunite its star-studded cast, including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, all of whom played pivotal roles in the first film. Their return is expected to further expand the futuristic universe created by Nag Ashwin and deepen storylines introduced in the original movie.

Given the scale of the production, the filmmakers are reportedly planning an extensive shooting and post-production schedule. The sequel will require significant visual effects work, large-scale action sequences and detailed world-building, elements that were central to the success and visual appeal of Kalki 2898 AD. As a result, the production team is carefully mapping out timelines to ensure the project meets its ambitious creative goals.

According to current plans, a substantial portion of principal photography is expected to be completed by April 2027. This would provide the makers with ample time to focus on the film's visual effects, editing and other post-production requirements before its targeted theatrical release in December 2027.

Kalki 2898 AD emerged as one of Indian cinema's most ambitious projects, blending mythology, science fiction and dystopian storytelling on a grand scale. With filming set to accelerate in the coming months, expectations remain high for the sequel as audiences look forward to the next chapter in the franchise's expansive cinematic universe.
