O'Romeo Takes Solid Start: Shahid Kapoor Film Earns Rs 8.25 Crore on Opening Day
Shahid Kapoor's O'Romeo earns Rs 8.25 crore on opening day, surpassing Deva and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya.
O'Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, recorded a steady opening at the Indian box office on Friday, outperforming several of the actor’s recent releases. The romantic-action drama has shown promising early momentum despite not delivering a blockbuster start.
According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the film collected approximately ₹8.25 crore net on its first day. Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the movie registered an overall theatrical occupancy of 14.86% on Day 1, indicating moderate but stable audience turnout across theatres.
The opening figures place O’Romeo ahead of Kapoor’s recent films such as Deva (₹5.50 crore), Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (₹6.70 crore), and Jersey (₹3.2 crore). While the latest release has not achieved a massive debut, it ranks among the actor’s stronger opening-day performances in recent years.

The film features a notable ensemble cast, including Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Vikrant Massey, and Tamannaah Bhatia in key roles. Backed by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the film blends romance and action elements.
Ahead of the release, Bhardwaj shared an emotional note expressing pride in the project, saying the film made him realise his capacity for both “love and violence”. Film critic Saibal Chatterjee rated the movie 3.5 out of 5 stars, calling it “vivid, visceral, and visually varied,” while noting that its narrative avoids predictability. Industry watchers will now look to the weekend numbers to assess the film’s longer-term box office trajectory.
