Chiranjeevi’s ‘Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu’ Opens Strong at ₹37.1 Crore
Chiranjeevi's latest comedy-action film scores massive Day 1 victory.
Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi has delivered a strong box office performance with his latest release, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, directed by Anil Ravipudi. The comedy-action entertainer opened to mixed critical reception but received overwhelming enthusiasm from audiences, particularly for the actor's impeccable comic timing and energetic performance in his vintage style. The film has marked a notable comeback for the veteran star following varied results in his recent projects.
Trade estimates from Sacnilk indicate that Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu collected ₹28.50 crore on its official opening day, a Monday release. Adding ₹8.6 crore from special preview shows held on Sunday, the total first-day earnings reached ₹37.1 crore. This figure positions the film ahead of Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar, which recorded ₹28 crore on its opening day, establishing Chiranjeevi's project as the stronger starter in this comparison.
Despite the impressive debut, the collections fall short of several major Telugu openings, including Prabhas's The Raja Saab at ₹62.9 crore (including previews) and Pawan Kalyan's OG, which set a benchmark with ₹84 crore last year. Chiranjeevi has successfully outperformed his own previous films Bhola Shankar (₹16.25 crore) and Waltair Veerayya (₹29.6 crore) on Day 1, though it remains below the ₹62 crore mark achieved by his historical epic Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.

The film features Chiranjeevi in the lead, supported by Nayanthara, Zarina Wahab, and Catherine Tresa in pivotal roles, with Venkatesh appearing in an extended cameo that has delighted fans. Produced by Sahu Garapati and Sushmita Konidela under a prominent banner, the project highlights the star's return to light-hearted, mass-appealing cinema after a string of varied genre attempts.
Industry observers now await the film's sustaining power at the box office in the coming days. While the robust opening suggests strong initial fan support, its trajectory will determine whether it mirrors the consistent success of Waltair Veerayya or experiences a steeper decline similar to The Raja Saab despite its bumper start. The performance underscores Chiranjeevi's enduring draw among Telugu audiences in a highly competitive market.
