Bava Lakshmanan Recalls Rajinikanth’s ₹1 Lakh Aid, Vijay’s Housing Support After Amputation

Bava Lakshmanan recalls Rajinikanth and Vijay’s support

Veteran Tamil actor Bava Lakshmanan has spoken about the support he received from leading actors Rajinikanth and Vijay after a viral video highlighted his financial struggles and deteriorating health. The actor, who recently underwent the amputation of three toes due to complications arising from diabetes, said the assistance from the film fraternity and the Tamil Nadu government has given him hope during one of the most difficult phases of his life.

Lakshmanan's condition came to public attention last month after a video circulated on social media showing him sleeping in a parking area because he had no permanent place to stay. The actor explained that he had been unable to work for several months after diabetes severely affected his leg, eventually leading to the amputation of three toes.

The prolonged treatment and recovery left him without a regular income, pushing him into financial distress and homelessness. Speaking to Behindwoods, Lakshmanan revealed that superstar Rajinikanth extended financial assistance of ₹1 lakh after learning about his situation. He expressed gratitude for the gesture, saying it provided much-needed relief during a period when he was struggling to meet even basic needs. The actor also thanked Vijay, stating that the Tamil star responded after watching the viral video and stepped in to help him financially.

Lakshmanan further said that actor and Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Rajmohan personally visited him to arrange temporary accommodation in the MLA quarters for six months. Recalling the visit, he said he was overwhelmed by the support extended to him after spending days without proper shelter. “I came here today and sat among trees. I was lying on the ground before. I must thank Vijay sir for it and for helping me financially. I will stay here for a while before I can have my own house,” he said during the interview.

According to Lakshmanan, Rajmohan also informed him that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had watched the viral YouTube video depicting his condition and instructed officials to extend assistance. The actor said the intervention by the state government helped him secure temporary housing, giving him a safe place to stay while he continues his recovery. He expressed hope that he would eventually be able to move into a permanent home and resume his professional life.

Lakshmanan has appeared in numerous Tamil films over the years, earning recognition for his supporting and comedic roles. Although he may not have enjoyed the same level of fame as many leading actors, his contributions to Tamil cinema have spanned several decades. His recent struggles have drawn widespread sympathy from fans and members of the film industry, many of whom have called for greater support systems for ageing and financially vulnerable artists. The actor's story has once again highlighted the challenges faced by several veteran artistes after their careers slow down, particularly when compounded by serious health issues.

Medical emergencies and the inability to continue working often leave many senior actors without adequate financial security. Lakshmanan's experience has also sparked discussions about the importance of welfare initiatives for film industry workers and retired performers. While expressing gratitude for the help he has received, Lakshmanan said he remains determined to recover and return to acting if his health permits. With financial assistance from Rajinikanth, support from Vijay, and temporary accommodation facilitated through the Tamil Nadu government, the veteran actor said he now has renewed hope of rebuilding his life after months of uncertainty.
