Anil Kapoor Arrives In Hyderabad To Shoot Telugu Film 'Dragon'
Anil Kapoor returns to Telugu cinema with Dragon.
Veteran actor Anil Kapoor has returned to Telugu cinema after nearly 46 years as he arrived in Hyderabad to begin shooting for the much-awaited film Dragon, starring Jr NTR. The project has already created significant anticipation among audiences and is expected to be one of the major theatrical releases in 2027.
Before starting the shoot, Anil shared a nostalgic moment with fans on social media, recalling his connection with Ramoji Film City. The actor shared a heartfelt post on Wednesday, coinciding with actress Kajol’s birthday, and remembered a conversation from years ago when Kajol had jokingly predicted that he would still be working at the same location even after decades.
The prediction came true as Anil returned to Ramoji Film City on Kajol’s birthday for the filming of Dragon. Calling the coincidence a special moment, the actor expressed his hope of sharing screen space with Kajol again in the future. The return marks a major milestone in his career, as his last Telugu appearance was in the 1980 film Vamsa Vruksham, which also marked his debut in the Telugu film industry.

In Dragon, Anil will portray Raghuveer Rathod, the Chief of India’s Narcotics Bureau. Directed by Prashanth Nair, the film is set against the backdrop of the opium trade during the 1960s and explores a global conflict surrounding the international drug trade.
The film features Jr NTR in the role of Luger, described as the ruthless assassin-in-chief of the Afghan Trading Company. The cast also includes Biju Menon, Rukmini Vasanth and Ashutosh Rana in key roles, adding to the scale and anticipation surrounding the project.
Dragon is scheduled for a pan-India theatrical release on June 11, 2027. The film will be released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, aiming to reach audiences across different regions of the country.
