Amala Akkineni Opens Up: My Bond With Naga Chaitanya Grew Only After He Moved to Hyderabad

Stepmother Amala shares candid insights about her evolving relationship with Naga Chaitanya.

Amala Akkineni recently revealed in an interview that she truly got to know her stepson, Naga Chaitanya, only after he moved to Hyderabad for college. Though she remained in touch with him during his childhood in Chennai, where he lived with his mother Lakshmi Daggubati following her split with Nagarjuna, their relationship deepened significantly during his young adulthood. Amala described Chaitanya as a mature and responsible individual with a strong sense of independence.

She contrasted her bond with Naga Chaitanya to that with her biological son, Akhil Akkineni, whom she raised closely alongside her husband, Nagarjuna. Amala emphasized that both boys were brought up with values of independence, critical thinking, and accountability, encouraging them to make their own decisions and learn from the consequences.

Reflecting on Naga Chaitanya’s personality, Amala praised his wisdom beyond his years and his thoughtful planning. She said he has always had his own views and steered clear of wrong decisions, showing great responsibility in life. Meanwhile, her involvement with Akhil has been deep and nurturing, shaped by her direct parenting.
