Allu Arjun Team Clarifies On Reports Of Basil Joseph Film Being Based On Shaktimaan

Speculation around a potential superhero project involving actor Allu Arjun and filmmaker Basil Joseph has been clarified by members of the latter’s team, who have denied any connection to a film based on the iconic television character Shaktimaan. The rumours had been circulating for some time, especially after Basil Joseph’s 2021 superhero film Minnal Murali gained widespread popularity and sparked discussions about his interest in larger superhero narratives.
This led to speculation that he might be developing a cinematic adaptation of the 1990s television series Shaktimaan, and that the project could involve major stars from the Indian film industry. Further confusion arose when reports suggested that Basil Joseph may have pitched a superhero script to Allu Arjun, fuelling expectations of a high-profile collaboration. However, individuals associated with Basil’s creative team have now stated that the ongoing project being developed with him has no link to Shaktimaan, and that such assumptions are based on unverified speculation.
Speaking about the matter, filmmaker Arun Anirudhan, who has worked closely with Basil Joseph on recent projects, noted that earlier versions of a large-scale superhero script involving Shaktimaan were discussed but did not move forward to production. He added that while such ideas had been explored in the past, the current development track is unrelated and belongs to a different concept altogether. Anirudhan also acknowledged that Basil Joseph and Allu Arjun are in professional contact, with the latter reportedly appreciating Minnal Murali.

However, he clearly dismissed the ongoing rumours linking their collaboration to Shaktimaan, stating that the present project is separate and will be announced officially at a later stage. With this clarification, the team has effectively put to rest current speculation, while confirming that Basil Joseph is indeed working on a new project—though details about its storyline, cast, and scale remain under wraps for now.
