The Traitors Telugu: Teja Sajja Hosts Prime Video Show Premiering October 15

Prime Video has announced October 15 as the premiere date for The Traitors Telugu, the Telugu adaptation of the internationally popular reality competition format. Hosted by actor Teja Sajja, the 10-episode series will bring together 20 contestants from different backgrounds for a game centred on trust, strategy, deception and betrayal. The series will stream exclusively on Prime Video, with new episodes releasing every Thursday at 12 noon IST over four weeks. Episodes will be available in Telugu with English subtitles.

The trailer introduces Teja Sajja in his first stint as a reality show host and establishes the central premise of the competition. The contestants will be divided into two groups — the Innocents and the Traitors. While the Innocents must work together to identify the contestants secretly assigned as Traitors, the latter will attempt to remain undetected while eliminating their opponents. The format places relationships and alliances at the heart of the game, requiring contestants to decide whom they can trust while simultaneously concealing their own strategies.

In the trailer, Teja reflects on the role deception has played in human relationships and conflicts, setting the tone for the series. He points out that people may appear trustworthy until an opportunity to deceive arises and says that deception has remained a part of human behaviour across different eras. He also highlights the challenge of identifying someone who behaves like a friend while secretly working against the group. The host describes the distinction between ordinary deception and the strategic manipulation that forms the basis of the reality competition.

Teja further captures the show's central idea with the line, “Trust is uncool, deception is the new rule here.” The contestants will have to complete tasks together, develop alliances and contribute to building a prize pool while attempting to determine who among them is secretly working as a Traitor. Meanwhile, the Traitors will have to manipulate the group, maintain their identities and avoid being identified during discussions and eliminations. The format means that contestants will have to balance cooperation with suspicion throughout the competition.

The Telugu edition follows the success of the franchise in other markets and comes after the Hindi version completed two seasons on Prime Video. The international format has been adapted in more than 30 countries, with each edition retaining the central concept while incorporating elements of its local entertainment culture. The Telugu version is produced by SOL Productions. Fazila Allana, Partner and Co-Founder of SOL Productions, said the adaptation would retain the themes of trust, ambition and betrayal while bringing a Telugu cultural flavour to the format.

For Teja Sajja, the series marks a new role after his work in films including Hanu-Man, as he takes on the responsibility of hosting a reality competition driven by its contestants. The identities of the Traitors will remain hidden from the Innocents, making observation, alliances and strategic decisions central to the game. With its 20 contestants competing across 10 episodes, The Traitors Telugu will begin streaming on October 15, with the weekly episodes allowing viewers to follow the shifting relationships and attempts to uncover the hidden Traitors.
