Simple Kaul Recalls Setting Boundaries After Filmmaker's Hotel Meeting Request

Television actor Simple Kaul, best known for her roles in Shararat and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has spoken about an uncomfortable experience she faced during the early stages of her acting career. In an interview Kaul recalled being asked by a filmmaker to meet him alone at a hotel late in the evening. She said she chose to maintain clear personal boundaries and refused to meet privately, stressing that she was never willing to compromise her values in pursuit of acting opportunities.

Recounting the incident, Kaul said the filmmaker asked her to visit his hotel around 8:30 or 9 p.m. She responded by saying she would come with her friends. According to the actor, the filmmaker suggested that her friends could remain downstairs while she met him upstairs alone. Kaul said she declined the proposal and instead insisted that any meeting would take place in the hotel lobby. She added that she had established personal rules for herself and made it clear that if a meeting had to happen upstairs, she would only attend with her team.

Reflecting on the experience, Kaul said she never felt desperate enough to accept situations that made her uncomfortable simply to secure a role. She encouraged aspiring actors to trust their instincts whenever they encounter circumstances that feel inappropriate or unsafe.

According to her, individuals should walk away from situations that raise concerns rather than feeling pressured to continue. She also advised newcomers to keep auditioning, build genuine professional relationships, and focus on improving their skills instead of believing success requires compromising personal principles.

Simple Kaul has built a successful career in Indian television through shows including Shararat, Yeh Meri Life Hai, and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Apart from acting, she has also established a presence in the hospitality business with restaurant ventures in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Her remarks add to ongoing conversations within the entertainment industry about maintaining professional boundaries and creating safer working environments for artists entering the profession.
