Samay Raina Finds Support From Ashish Chanchlani Amid India's Got Latent Criticism

YouTuber backs Samay Raina amid criticism over show.

Content Creator and YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani has publicly backed Comedian Samay Raina amid criticism surrounding the second season of India's Got Latent. The latest season of the popular comedy talent show premiered on June 20, but some viewers have argued that the new episodes feel more restrained and lack the spontaneity that made the original season a success.

Responding to the criticism, Chanchlani took to Instagram Stories to explain the circumstances under which the show was revived. He stressed that bringing India's Got Latent back to audiences was far from straightforward, particularly after the controversy that engulfed the show and several creators associated with it in 2025. According to him, the team had to navigate a prolonged legal and regulatory process before the project could return.

Addressing comments from viewers who felt the show had become overly cautious, Chanchlani wrote that the creators had spent a year dealing with legal challenges and had committed to operating within certain boundaries to avoid repeating past controversies. He suggested that some of the creative changes seen in the second season were a consequence of those commitments rather than a deliberate attempt to alter the show's identity.

"For people saying latent is too filtered or has lost its charm and shit... Just remember, we had to fight a year-long legal battle where we promised to stay in line and make sure history doesn't repeat itself," Chanchlani wrote. He was among several internet personalities linked to the controversy, alongside Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija and Ranveer Allahbadia.

The YouTuber also highlighted the efforts made by Raina behind the scenes to revive the show despite significant obstacles. According to Chanchlani, there was considerable uncertainty over whether a second season would ever be produced. He credited Raina with persevering through numerous challenges and ensuring that the show eventually returned to audiences despite the difficulties involved.

"It was almost uncertain that this show will come back. But somehow @maisamayhoon made sure he brings it back for y'all. He has fought countless battles behind the scenes. It was an uphill almost impossible pipe dream for S2 to even exist," Chanchlani wrote, urging viewers to support the comedian and enjoy the new season. The first episode of India's Got Latent Season 2 featured actors Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, marking the show's return after a turbulent period and setting the stage for what creators hope will be a successful new chapter.
