Salman Khan Receives Approval For New Six-Storey Bandra Residence

Actor approved for new six-storey Bandra seaside residence.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has received approval to construct a new six-storey residential building in Bandra, Mumbai, marking a significant development in plans for a new family home. The Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) granted clearance for the project on June 16, allowing construction to move forward. While the approval has sparked speculation about a possible shift from his long-time residence, there has been no official confirmation that the actor will move out of Galaxy Apartments.

The proposed residential building will come up in Bandra’s Chimbai area, located a short distance from Galaxy Apartments, where Salman Khan has been residing since 1974. The plot is registered in the name of his mother, Salma Khan, according to MCZMA sources. The property earlier had a two-storey structure that was demolished after being declared structurally unsafe, as it had existed since before 1956.

As per the approved plan, the new structure will include a ground floor, stilt parking area, and six additional floors. The total built-up area is expected to be around 1,014 square metres. The project will be developed by Sach Developers and had previously received preliminary clearance from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in October 2025, known as the Intimation of Disapproval (IOD), which paved the way for environmental approval.

Environmental conditions have also been attached to the clearance. Authorities have stipulated that no existing trees on the property will be cut during construction. Instead, developers will be required to plant native tree species around the site to maintain ecological balance. With MCZMA approval now secured, the project is expected to move into the construction phase in the coming months.

The development comes more than two years after security around Salman Khan was significantly increased following a firing incident outside Galaxy Apartments, allegedly linked to members of the Bishnoi gang. The actor currently has Y+ security cover due to ongoing threat assessments. The location of the new property, situated in a quieter lane away from the main road, is expected to provide enhanced privacy and improved security for the Khan family.

Despite growing speculation, it remains unclear whether Salman Khan will permanently relocate to the new residence or continue staying at Galaxy Apartments, which has been his long-time home for decades. The project, however, marks a notable expansion of the actor’s real estate footprint in Mumbai’s Bandra suburb.
