Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana to Release on Daughter Raha's Birthday

Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana gets theatrical release date, ties to daughter's birthday.

Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi’s “Ramayana” is scheduled to arrive in cinemas worldwide on November 6, 2026, according to the latest release information. The date coincides with the fourth birthday of Ranbir and Alia Bhatt’s daughter, Raha Kapoor, adding a personal connection to the actor’s much-anticipated portrayal of Lord Rama.

Ranbir previously said that playing Lord Rama had a profound influence on his personal life and helped him become a better person for his daughter. In an interview with Top magazine, the actor admitted that he initially questioned whether he was worthy of portraying such a revered figure and whether he could do justice to the role.

The actor described the project as life-defining rather than merely career-defining. He said studying the Ramayana and understanding Lord Rama’s journey changed his habits, values and outlook on life. According to Ranbir, the experience reshaped his understanding of loss, sacrifice and dharma at a time when he felt he needed those lessons.

Ranbir also connected his experience of fatherhood with his work on the film, saying Raha had inspired him to become a better person while “Ramayana” encouraged him to improve for her. He described the opportunity to participate in a film of such magnitude, based on Indian culture and history, as a blessing for which he would remain grateful.

The film’s trailer was released worldwide on July 30 after an earlier postponement and received mixed reactions from viewers. Producer Namit Malhotra has said the two-part production carries a combined budget of approximately $500 million, or more than ₹4,000 crore. He described the project as an ambitious attempt to present the epic to audiences on a global scale while maintaining financial discipline.

“Ramayana” will be released in two instalments, with the second part planned for Diwali 2027. Earlier information had placed the first instalment’s release in October 2026 ahead of Diwali, while the latest announcement lists November 6. Alongside Ranbir and Sai Pallavi, the film features Yash, Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey in pivotal roles.
