OTT Releases: 120 Bahadur on Prime, Taskaree on Netflix, Mastiii 4 on ZEE5 & More
War heroism, crime thrillers, comedy sequels & documentaries dominate OTT platforms this week.
Streaming platforms are lining up a packed slate of new releases for the week of January 12 to January 18, offering viewers a wide range of genres across languages. From large-scale war dramas and gritty crime thrillers to comedies, fantasy tales, and behind-the-scenes documentaries, OTT services are targeting diverse audiences ahead of the mid-January weekend surge.
Among the most anticipated titles is 120 Bahadur, streaming on Amazon Prime Video from January 16. Directed by Razneesh Ghai, the war drama stars Farhan Akhtar as Major Shaitan Singh Bhati and recounts the heroic stand of the 13 Kumaon Regiment during the 1962 Battle of Rezang La. The film focuses on themes of sacrifice, resilience, and military honor, marking one of the biggest patriotic releases of the week.
Netflix dominates the crime and thriller space with Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web and The Rip. Taskaree, created by Neeraj Pandey, features Emraan Hashmi as a customs officer tackling an international smuggling syndicate at Mumbai airport, while The Rip reunites Matt Damon and Ben Affleck as Miami narcotics officers caught in a moral dilemma after a high-stakes drug bust. Netflix also releases One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, a documentary offering an emotional look at the final chapter of the iconic series.

Comedy and satire find space on ZEE5 with Mastiii 4 and Bha Bha Ba. The former brings back the popular trio of Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, and Aftab Shivdasani for another round of adult comedy, while Bha Bha Ba blends political satire with farce, led by Dileep in a quirky narrative about power and protest. ZEE5 also hosts the Telugu dark comedy Gurram Paapi Reddy.
Regional and genre-driven content further strengthens the lineup. Mammootty headlines the Malayalam crime thriller Kalamkaval on SonyLIV, while Mahasenha (Volume 1) on Aha Tamil introduces a fantasy thriller rooted in folklore and environmental themes. Lionsgate Play’s Bandook delivers a psychological crime story set on a remote river island.
Documentary lovers can turn to Disney+ and National Geographic for Pole to Pole With Will Smith, a globe-spanning series following the actor’s journey from Antarctica to the Arctic. With such variety across platforms, the week promises something for viewers seeking action, drama, humor, or reflective storytelling.
