MP Cabinet Approves Rs 33,240 Crore for Welfare Schemes, Farmer Bonuses, and Governance Initiatives

MP Cabinet approves farmer bonuses, stamp duty waiver for 46 lakh families, and youth governance initiatives.

The Madhya Pradesh cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, on Tuesday approved a series of measures aimed at supporting farmers, promoting youth participation in governance, strengthening welfare schemes, and boosting sustainable tourism. The decisions were part of a broader effort to ensure inclusive growth and administrative efficiency across the state.

In a major boost for farmers, the cabinet approved a bonus of Rs 40 per quintal over the central Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 2,585 for wheat, raising the effective purchase price to Rs 2,625 per quintal. A bonus of Rs 100 per quintal was also sanctioned for black gram (urad). The state has declared 2026 as the Farmer Welfare Year, introducing year-long programs to promote advanced agricultural technologies and ensure fair prices for farmers, building on the success of the Bhavantar price-difference scheme.

Under the Swamitva Yojana, stamp duty waivers were approved for free registration of ownership documents for approximately 46 lakh families lacking property papers, with an estimated state expenditure of around Rs 3,000 crore. In addition, the cabinet extended continuity of various schemes across seven departments from 2026 to 2031, approving a total budget of Rs 33,240 crore. Key programs include rural road development, nutrition initiatives under Poshan Shakti, post-matric hostels in tribal areas, Scheduled Caste and women’s welfare programs, MSME investment promotion, and startup incentives with Rs 600 crore earmarked for startups and Rs 10,000 crore for subsidies.

The cabinet also approved staffing for three ESI hospitals, sanctioned a new civil judge post for Chitangi Assembly constituency, and extended the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative with Rs 3 crore for district-specific handicrafts and products, including Chanderi handloom, Bhopal’s zari-zardozi, Dhar’s Bagh print, and Ujjain’s Batik print. Geographical Indication (GI) tagging and technological upgrades will be supported through collaboration between the Industry, MSME, and Cottage Industries departments.

A pioneering governance initiative, the Chief Minister Young Interns for Good Governance Program (CM YIGGP), was launched to involve local youth in administrative processes. Each block will select 15 interns for one-year (extendable) placements, totaling approximately 4,860 interns over three years. Managed by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance, interns will assist in digitization, scheme monitoring, surveys, awareness drives, and real-time feedback collection. A monthly honorarium of Rs 100 has been allocated, with a total budget of around Rs 170 crore.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also extended greetings for Gudi Padwa and the New Year, assuring citizens that domestic petrol and gas supplies remain unaffected despite global uncertainties, with precautionary restrictions only on commercial LPG cylinders. The government said it is closely monitoring distribution to prevent inconvenience to households.
