The latest music video “Rana Ji 2.0” featuring television actor and Bigg Boss 13 fame Mahira Sharma has received mixed reactions from social media users following its release. The song, launched under the Tips banner, is a recreated version of the popular 1995 track “Mujhko Rana Ji Maaf Karna” from the film Karan Arjun, which originally featured Mamta Kulkarni.
The new version retains the original vocals of veteran singers Ila Arun and Alka Yagnik, while the music has been recreated by Tanishk Bagchi. However, many listeners expressed disappointment, saying the remake failed to capture the energy, charm, and cultural impact of the original track.
Soon after its release, social media platforms, especially X, saw several users comparing the new version with the 1995 song. Some criticized the trend of remaking classic Bollywood songs, arguing that recreations often lack the originality and emotional connection associated with the original compositions.

One user wrote that the remake trend should stop, saying it felt “more like a product than a piece of art.” Others shared similar views, with comments stating that the old version was better and that some classic songs should remain untouched.
Several users also compared Mahira Sharma’s performance with Mamta Kulkarni’s appearance in the original song. Critics said the original had stronger expressions, dance energy, and screen presence, while others questioned whether modern remixes could recreate the impact of iconic 1990s Bollywood songs.
Despite the criticism, “Rana Ji 2.0” continues to draw attention due to the involvement of original singers Ila Arun and Alka Yagnik. The original song was composed by Rajesh Roshan with lyrics written by Indeevar, and its recreated version has once again sparked debate over the growing practice of remaking classic Bollywood tracks.
