Jisshu Sengupta Advocates Industry Unity While Addressing Don 3 Controversy
Jisshu Sengupta urges unity amid Don 3 controversy
Actor Jisshu Sengupta has shared his views on the controversy surrounding Ranveer Singh's exit from Don 3, saying disputes within the film industry should ideally be resolved privately rather than becoming public spectacles. The actor, who is preparing for the release of his upcoming OTT project Brown, described the entertainment industry as a close-knit family where disagreements are inevitable but should be handled through discussion and mutual understanding.
Speaking about the issue, Sengupta stressed that very little is known publicly about what transpired between the parties involved. According to him, the public is only aware that a disagreement occurred and has since been resolved. He maintained that commenting on individuals without knowing the complete facts would be unfair and inappropriate.
The actor also expressed his opposition to the idea of banning individuals from the industry. He noted that the profession is ultimately driven by talent and capability, arguing that actors who possess the required skills will continue to find opportunities. While acknowledging that conflicts can arise between professionals, he said such matters should be settled through dialogue rather than public confrontation.

Sengupta further addressed concerns about the impact of such disputes on technicians and other behind-the-scenes workers. The debate intensified after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh, claiming that his sudden exit from Don 3 affected technicians, spot boys and craft workers associated with the project. However, Sengupta questioned whether a single project's disruption necessarily leaves workers without opportunities, pointing out that numerous films are produced across the industry every day.
The controversy took a new turn when FWICE withdrew its non-cooperation directive against Singh following requests from industry bodies CINTAA and IMPAA. The decision came shortly after the actor reportedly issued a legal notice challenging the action taken against him. The dispute has sparked wider discussions about the role of trade bodies in contractual film matters and the balance between protecting workers' interests and respecting professional agreements.
Industry sources have suggested that the disagreement is largely linked to the financial implications of Singh's departure from Don 3, with significant investments already made in the project. The episode has drawn attention to the complex relationship between actors, producers, trade associations and technicians. Meanwhile, Sengupta is set to appear in Brown, a psychological crime thriller directed by Abhinay Deo, where he plays a psychiatrist involved in a murder investigation led by Karisma Kapoor's character.
