Bharti Singh Faces Backlash After Comparing Ayesha Khan to Krushna Abhishek on Laughter Chefs

Bharti Singh was criticised online after a joke comparing Ayesha Khan to Krushna Abhishek sparked body-shaming allegations.

Comedian and host Bharti Singh faced widespread backlash for a comment perceived as body-shaming actress Ayesha Khan during a promotional episode of Laughter Chefs Unlimited Entertainment Season 3 on December 15, 2025. The episode featured Kapil Sharma and the cast of his film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, including Ayesha Khan, Warina Hussain, Tridha Choudhury, and Parul Gulati, who performed a dance to the movie's song. Singh's remark compared Khan's height to fellow comedian Krushna Abhishek, sparking criticism on social media.

As the actresses entered the set, Singh quipped in Hindi, "When all the heroines came, seeing Ayesha, I thought Krushna had come back again, because she is tall like him." Khan appeared uncomfortable, rushing towards Kapil Sharma while covering her stomach. Kapil questioned if it was meant as a compliment, while Parul Gulati admonished Singh, saying she shouldn't have made the comment. Singh responded lightly, attributing it to her pregnancy.

The clip circulated rapidly online, drawing accusations of insensitivity and hypocrisy, given Singh's own experiences with appearance-based humour in her career. Viewers labelled the joke rude and disrespectful, with one stating it indirectly body-shamed larger women despite Khan not fitting that description. Others called it misogynistic and unfunny, noting Singh's pattern of similar remarks towards female guests and contestants.

Laughter Chefs Season 3, which premiered in November 2025 with returning host Bharti Singh and judge Harpal Singh Sokhi, has featured a mix of returning and new celebrities, including Krushna Abhishek. The show continues its blend of cooking challenges and comedy, with this promotional appearance marking Kapil Sharma's return to the Colours channel after over a decade.

The incident highlights ongoing debates about boundaries in comedy on reality television, particularly regarding physical attributes. While humour is central to the format, critics argued such comments undermine inclusivity. As the episode aired amid the film's release, the backlash underscored evolving audience expectations for respectful interactions, even in light-hearted entertainment settings.
