Amar Kaushik Refutes Claims About Vicky Kaushal’s Lifestyle Change for Mahavatar

Filmmaker Amar Kaushik has stepped forward to dismiss widespread rumours suggesting that he and actor Vicky Kaushal have adopted a strict vegetarian lifestyle and quit alcohol in preparation for their upcoming film, Mahavatar. The movie, inspired by the life of Chiranjeevu Parashurama — the sixth avatar of Vishnu — is among the most anticipated mythological dramas currently in development.

Speaking to Filmygyan, Kaushik humorously shut down the baseless reports, urging audiences not to believe unverified claims circulating online. “Where do these rumours even come from? Please stop it. Only believe it when we officially say so,” he said, reacting to viral stories that alleged he and Kaushal had made personal sacrifices to honor the revered deity portrayed in the film.

The speculation began after a report by Bollywood Hungama claimed that both men had chosen to give up meat and alcohol as a form of respect while preparing for their roles. The supposed inside source also suggested that the duo would begin their formal film prep with a grand pooja ceremony next year. Kaushik’s response now sets the record straight, clarifying that no such decision has been made.

However, he admitted initial hesitation about recreating the spiritual and visual scale of the narrative on screen due to its technical and creative demands.
