Vishnu Vishal Expresses Discomfort Over Rajinikanth’s Clarification On Vijay Remarks

Vishnu Vishal reacts to Rajinikanth’s clarification about Vijay remarks.

Actor Vishnu Vishal has spoken about the growing intensity of social media backlash and how even senior film personalities are now being compelled to publicly clarify their positions amid online speculation. While promoting his upcoming film Gatta Kusthi 2, the actor reflected on recent controversies in Tamil cinema and said it was “very painful” to see veteran actor Rajinikanth issue clarifications after being accused online of jealousy towards actor Vijay.

In an interview with YouTube channel Rednool, Vishnu Vishal addressed criticism directed at him personally, including a viral post that accused him of repeatedly giving emotional interviews during film promotions and reacting strongly to criticism of his work. The actor responded by stating that he has only faced setbacks with a few recent films, including Lal Salaam (2024) and Aaryan (2025), adding that some criticisms of his work have been selective and taken out of context.

He further clarified that Lal Salaam, in which he worked alongside Rajinikanth, did not turn out the way it was originally presented to him, while Aaryan faced criticism primarily over its climax. Vishnu Vishal also mentioned his role as a producer in his brother Rudra’s film Oho Enthan Baby, highlighting that his involvement in cinema extends beyond acting alone.

The actor then shifted focus to the broader issue of social media discourse in the film industry, citing Rajinikanth as an example of how even highly respected figures are not immune to online criticism. He referred to a situation in which Rajinikanth had to publicly clarify that he bore no ill feelings toward actor Vijay after speculation and backlash emerged online. Vishnu Vishal said it was concerning that a figure of Rajinikanth’s stature, with decades of achievement, was being questioned in such a manner.

He added that the current digital environment has created a climate where misunderstandings and fan-driven narratives escalate quickly, often forcing actors to respond publicly to rumours or assumptions. According to him, such “fan wars” do not reflect the real relationships between actors, pointing out that he maintains cordial ties with colleagues such as Suriya despite online perceptions to the contrary.

Vishnu Vishal concluded that the situation reflects a broader change in how celebrity interactions are perceived in the age of social media, where silence is often interpreted as disagreement and clarification becomes necessary even for veteran stars. He said the trend highlights the emotional toll of constant online scrutiny on public figures in the entertainment industry.
