Priyanka Chopra Issues Knockout Warning To Bigg Boss 20 Housemates Over Mary Kom

Priyanka Chopra warns contestants of Mary Kom knockouts.

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra sent a special video message to boxing legend Mary Kom ahead of the five-time World Champion's entry into the Bigg Boss 20 house, offering words of encouragement along with a playful warning to the season's other contestants. The message aired during the show's premiere on Sunday, September 6, as Mary Kom was officially unveiled as one of this season's participants on the reality series hosted by Salman Khan, ending days of speculation among fans about who would be joining the star-studded lineup this year. In her video, Priyanka, who portrayed Mary Kom in the 2014 biographical film named after the boxer, wished her well and encouraged her to remain true to herself throughout the competition.

"Mary ap bas jaisi hai waisi rahie. Khule dil se kheliye," Priyanka said, urging the boxer to play with an open heart and stay authentic to her personality inside the house, regardless of the pressures and dynamics that typically define the show. She closed her message with warm wishes for Mary Kom's journey on the show, saying, "I am so looking forward to your journey. Bohot Bohot sara pyaar," a sentiment that reflected the closeness between the two women that has endured well beyond their professional collaboration more than a decade ago. Alongside her message of support, Priyanka also issued a lighthearted caution to Mary Kom's fellow housemates, referencing the boxer's formidable reputation in the ring.

"Inka Knockout na bohot bhaari parta hai," Priyanka said, warning contestants that Mary Kom's knockout punch carries serious weight — a nod to her decorated career as a five-time World Champion boxer and Olympic medallist now stepping into an entirely different kind of competitive environment, one built on social dynamics, strategy and endurance rather than physical combat.

The comment quickly became a talking point among viewers, with many sharing clips of the message online and speculating about how Mary Kom's disciplined, no-nonsense persona might shape the house's dynamics in the weeks ahead. The bond between Priyanka and Mary Kom dates back to their collaboration on the 2014 biopic "Mary Kom," directed by Omung Kumar and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

To prepare for the demanding role, Priyanka reportedly spent time with Mary Kom and her family in Manipur, underwent rigorous boxing training, and closely studied the athlete's mannerisms and physicality in order to portray her authentically on screen. In turn, Mary Kom reportedly helped Priyanka understand her personal journey and outlook on life, a process that helped forge a friendship extending well beyond the demands of the film.

The movie went on to win the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment award at the 62nd National Film Awards, cementing its place as one of the more acclaimed sports biopics in Hindi cinema, and the two women have remained close in the years since its release, frequently expressing mutual admiration and support on public platforms.

Mary Kom is set to spend the next 105 days inside the Bigg Boss house, marking a significant departure from the boxing ring that has defined much of her public life and career. Speaking about what she hopes to bring to the show, Mary Kom noted that being a mother has become a central part of her identity in recent years, describing how that role now shapes much of her personality alongside her sporting achievements.

Mary Kom's entry into the competitive reality format is expected to bring a new dynamic to the house, given her background of discipline, resilience and high-pressure performance under scrutiny, qualities that have defined her decorated boxing career spanning multiple Olympic and World Championship appearances.

Mary Kom joins a diverse lineup of contestants for the new season, including Aasif Khan, Kanika Mann, ScoutOp (Tanmay Singh), Amrapali Dubey, Mahhi Vij, Yung DSA, Qazi Touqeer, Arishfa Khan, Rohed Khan, Isha Rikhi and Kushal Tanwar, representing a mix of television personalities, social media influencers and public figures from varied backgrounds.

Bigg Boss 20 is currently streaming on JioHotstar at 9 p.m. and airing on Colors at 10:30 p.m., with viewers now watching closely to see how Mary Kom's discipline and competitive edge translate into the unpredictable social dynamics of the Bigg Boss house, and whether Priyanka Chopra's playful warning to the other contestants proves prophetic as the season progresses.
