UK Distributor Breaks Silence on Jana Nayagan Leak — and the Statement Is Heartbreaking
Vijay's farewell film leaked online before release, sparking industry-wide condemnation.
The UK distributor of Jana Nayagan has broken its silence after footage from the upcoming film, starring Vijay, was leaked online, calling it “the hardest day” for the team. Ahimsa Entertainment expressed deep disappointment, stressing that the film was meant to be experienced in theatres and not through unauthorised circulation.
In an official statement shared on social media, the distributor highlighted the emotional and professional toll of piracy, particularly as the film is being positioned as Vijay’s farewell project before his reported transition into politics. The statement emphasised that filmmaking represents years of effort and the work of hundreds of individuals, urging audiences not to support piracy in any form.
The production house, KVN Productions, also issued a strong warning after confirming that portions of the film—and in some cases nearly the entire movie—had been illegally accessed and circulated across multiple platforms. The company described the leak as a serious threat and a violation of copyright laws.

KVN Productions further cautioned that engaging with such leaked content—including downloading, sharing, or viewing it—constitutes a criminal offence. The makers said they have initiated forensic investigations to trace those responsible and are prepared to pursue strict legal action against all individuals involved in the distribution chain.
The leak has sparked widespread concern within the film industry, with several prominent figures voicing their support for the makers and condemning piracy. Celebrities including Chiranjeevi and Sivakarthikeyan urged audiences to respect the effort behind filmmaking and wait for the official theatrical release instead of engaging with unauthorised content.
Directed by H Vinoth, the film has already faced delays due to certification concerns linked to its political themes. With the latest piracy setback adding to its challenges, the makers have reiterated their appeal for audiences to support cinema responsibly and experience the film as intended on the big screen.
